We would like to invite our friends, families and acquaintances to visit our new Sheltering Wings Online Gift Catalog. Sponsorship News
As we come to the end of a year, I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your faithful support. I am always amazed with the difference a sponsor’s support makes to each individual child. Your contributions have enriched the lives of the children with more than meeting basic needs but an opportunity to hear of the love of God and to stretch their minds and hearts to dare to hope and seek a better life as they reach adulthood.
This year, we had several of the children outgrow the Sponsorship Program. Etienne, my sponsored child, is the first of the children that has passed a test equivalent to our ACT test to enter College. This is an extra special joy to me, because I have twins sons that will be entering college next Fall. Two of the girls are in Nursing School, and Emmanuel is joining the Army. Many of the girls have married and the latest boy, Roamain Zoungrana was picked to go to a professional technical school in the town of Ouahigouya ( about an hour from Yako). From the babies that are adopted to the ones going into adulthood, our partnership in their lives has been an invaluable gift.
Over 280 sponsored children participated at our latest Quarterly Food Distribution. This is always a time of joy where we have a chance to touch bases with the families and extend your love to them. As you may remember, many of our families experience low crop yields this past year. Other than quarterly home visits, the Distribution is our main to keep contact with the head of each courtyard. Our orphanage is continually growing and changing. We had 3 children join their extended family. Assya, who had been with us for 2 years, was adopted by a French family last September and our latest addition is Rabiatou, a beautiful baby girl born on October 7, 2007.
Lastly, I would like to report that the Sheltering Wings School is doing great and the children are excelling beyond expectations.
Orphanage in Yako
This has been such a wonderful year for the orphanage and it is because of faithful friends like you that I can say this. Thank you so much for your faithful prayer support as well as your tangible financial support. We could not continue to care for our children without your help.
Although Burkina Faso is a land of tropical killers such as malaria, meningitis, hepatitis, and typhoid, our children have been amazingly well this year. It is true that the skill of our workers is improving each year and we see the benefit of this in the general health of our children. But, we also know that because of your sensitivity and prayer covering, our children are walking and running, playing and studying more and more in divine health.
Being a “Friend of the Orphanage” allows you to know what is going on with any of the children presently at the orphanage. You will receive updates on the children quarterly or just send us a note.
In closing, I invite you to tell your friends about ‘Friends of the Orphanage’. Participating in ‘Friends of the Orphanage’ is a way to touch the nations, greatly impact the life of a child, and change the next generation in Burkina Faso
