Hello, my name is Rachid.  I come from a Muslim family.  I live with my parents and three siblings in a small home that does not have either running water or electricity.  The closest well is about a kilometer away.  Neither one of my parents has a regular job, but they do what they can to earn a little money and we have a small family farm where we try to grow the food that we eat throughout the year.

I walk about a kilometer to get to school each morning.  Then I walk home again in the afternoon.  Science class is my favorite! After school, I study my lessons or play soccer with my friends. I also have to do some work around the house to help my mom out. When I’m all grown up, I want to become a police officer!
