Compaore Josué is a bright and determined fifth grader living with his loving Christian family. Despite the challenges of living in a small home without electricity or running water, Josué finds hope and inspiration in his faith and his dreams for the future. Each morning, he starts out on the nearly one-kilometer walk to school—his only means of getting there, as he doesn’t own a bike. Even though the journey is long, Josué’s love for learning, especially math, keeps him motivated to overcome these obstacles.

Josué dreams of becoming a doctor so he can help others in his community, drawing strength from the encouragement he receives at home. After school, Josué helps his mother wash the dishes and takes care of household chores before he’s allowed to join his friends for a game of soccer. Through the difficulties, Josué remains joyful, knowing that God has a special plan for his life. With the support of a sponsor, Josué’s hope for the future grows even brighter as he works hard each day to reach his goals and serve those around him with a kind and generous heart.
