Djoine 2049FTOND18 Djoine Adele Soulama

There are so many opportunities for us to help in our world today. It is wonderful to share from our abundance but at times it is difficult to decide where our gifts can have the greatest impact. Changing a life is possible by sponsoring Djoine Adele, a deserving young woman who has a second chance. What greater impact can we have?

Djoine Adele was born in a remote village in West Africa. Her mother has never been part of her life. And her father died in an accident in 2011. Her uncle and other extended family members have cared for her. She was enrolled in school but always struggled in the traditional academic setting and finally dropped out of school. Two years ago, she was offered a place at a residential vocational school for girls, but her uncle was reluctant to let her go.

This year (2023-2024) he has agreed to allow her to have this opportunity to learn some practical skills that will help her earn a living for herself. The Girls’ Training Center is a two-year residential program where she will have a chance to learn sewing, weaving, gardening and animal husbandry. The girls share in daily chores and responsibilities as well as daily prayer and weekly worship.

Upon graduation from this program each girl will be given either a sewing machine or a weaving loom to help her apply her skills in a productive and profitable way.
