Ardjouma, lives in village of southwestern Burkina Faso. He lives in the courtyard of his father and extended family. His mother has left him in the village and moved away. Ardjouma and his brother are cared for by the other women in the courtyard who collectively care for ten children. Unlike his brother, Ardjouma is enrolled in school. This year (2024-2025), he is in ninth grade. He likes learning and enjoys spending time with his friends. His family cultivates corn and peanuts to feed their large family. There is always the risk that there will not be enough to eat.There is no electricity or running water in their village. Ardjouma and the other children sleep on the floor of their mud hut.
