Adalia was born on August 13, 2017, in a remote village in West Africa. Until recently, she lived with her family and helped work in the fields when she wasn’t in school. She loved spending time with her friends, helping her family, and going to school.

She never expected her life to change so quickly and so dramatically.

One day, terrorists invaded her village, and everything familiar to Adalia and her family was taken away. At a moment’s notice, her family had to flee to safety, leaving almost everything behind. They took only what they could carry and left behind their home, their fields, and the life they had known.

Adalia’s parents are alive, but the family is now extremely vulnerable. For the time being, they are living with extended family, and their presence places an additional strain on the household. They do not know when—or if—they will be able to return home.

In their village, Adalia’s parents were farmers who depended on their crops to feed their family and provide an income. Everything they had was left behind. Now, they have no means of supporting themselves, and their future is uncertain.

Adalia is in the third grade this school year, 2026–2027. School provides her with much-needed structure, stability, and hope after experiencing so much loss. But without a steady income, her father may not be able to afford her tuition.

Right now, providing food for the family is the greatest priority. Yet Adalia’s father wants his daughter to have opportunities that he never had. He knows that education can open doors to a brighter future for her.

Adalia is hoping for a sponsor who can help her family through this difficult time. Sponsorship would allow her to remain in school, and twice each year, her family would receive 100 pounds of rice—providing much-needed food for the entire household.
