Abdoul Bassito is a bright and determined fifth grader (2025-26) whose life has been shaped by hardship and hope. After losing his father, Abdoul now lives with his mother and three siblings in a modest home with no running water, depending on a well nearly a kilometer away. Though his mother does not have a job, she works tirelessly to ensure her children have what they need. Abdoul starts each day with a walk to school, covering the 900 meters on foot because he doesn’t have a bike. Despite these challenges, Abdoul’s love for learning shines, especially in math class where his curiosity and dedication stand out.

Outside of school, Abdoul enjoys playing soccer and studying, dreaming of becoming a soldier someday. His family comes from a Muslim background, but he is open to learning about new faith traditions and welcomes the encouragement and support given to him in his Christian school.
